
Distington came out on top in the BARLA Cumbria Cup’s match of the day against Ellenborough.
Anybody’s game at half-time, with Distington holding a narrow 12-10 advantage, they pulled away in the second half to win 50-16.
Ellenborough had twice held the lead, on 16 minutes through Kevin Hoban and after 27 minutes with the second try by John Todd. Owen Hoyles converted one.

But each time Distington had come back with tries from Phil Lister and Jamie Friel and both were converted by Scott George to give them the narrow interval lead.
After the change round, Distington cut loose to score seven tries, five of them converted by Sutton.
By the time Hoyles scored and converted Elbra’s third try on 68 minutes Distington were out of sight.

Lister went on to complete a hat-trick with two more touchdowns in the 55th and 71th minutes.
Between the 53rd and 75th minutes, Nicky Cooke helped himself to a hat-trick of tries while the second-half avalanche had been started by a 43rd minute try for Steve Conway and Friel six minutes later.

Maryport and Glasson
Maryport and Glasson met for the second time in ten days and remarkably their BARLA Cumbria Cup tie ended in exactly the same score.
It had finished 44-22 to Glasson on that occasion and that was how it finished again in the Cup tie.
Glasson had led 22-6 at half-time and in a closer second-half doubled their tally.
The Maryport tries came from Josh Patterson (2), Chris Ivison and Andrew Cartwright with four goals from Patterson. John Dollachin was their man of the match.
Glasson’s man of the match Shane Williams scored two tries while there were other touchdowns for Shaun Woolf, Luke Johnson, Matthew Burns, Tyler Beales, Jon Cameron and Ellis Nixon. Luke Johnson kicked six goals.
Wath Brow A and Aspatria
In the third tie to be played at the weekend, Wath Brow A were 34-12 winners at Aspatria.
That represented a much better second-half effort by the home side as they had trailed 22-0 at the break.
Aspatria’s three second-half tries came from Darryl Creighton, man of the match Mark Irwin and David Wilson.
Wath Brow had built their first-half lead with tries from Luke Davidson (12), Greg Rooney (24), James Harrison (28) and Jamie McAllister (38).
They added two second-half tries from Daley Stables and Jack Casey. In the game, Jenson Olstrum kicked three goals and McAllister landed two. Their man of the match was David Bradley.
Lowca and Cockermouth
The fourth tie between Lowca and Cockermouth will be played on Friday night, kick-off 7pm.
Two of the four County Shield games were played with new dates to be arranged for Millom A and Ellenborough A, as well as Seaton A v Cockermouth A.
Hensingham A and Egremont A
A Copeland derby in the County Shield saw Hensingham A win 30-20 at Egremont A. They had trailed 10-8 at the break.
The Egremont tries were scored by Cameron Moore (2), Jake McBride and Nathan Preston with two goals from Albert McKay.
For Hensingham there were tries by Craig McAvoy (2), man of the match Luke Charlton (2), Dean Crowe and Ryan Corlett.
Ellis Postlethwaite kicked two goals and there was one from Luke Richardson.
Kells A and Barrow Island A
Kells A made the trip south to play Barrow Island A and progressed on the back of a 30-12 victory.
The Kells tries came from Clarke Chambers (2), Ryan Starkie, Dan Starkie and Lloyd O’Neill. Dan Starkie kicked five goals.
