A man from Barrow was assaulted in an alley.

Cumbria police are appealing for witnesses after a 47-year-old was assaulted in the alley between Thwaite Street and Rawlinson Street in Barrow.

The victim sustained injuries in the attack and was treated at the scene. This incident took place at about 10pm on April 24.

Officers believe that this incident is also linked to an earlier incident of criminal damage where a window was smashed on Thwaite street.

A 30-year-old man from Barrow and a 20-year-old woman from Barrow were both arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and criminal damage. They have since been released on bail.

If you witnessed the incident or have any information you can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit, quoting incident number 257 of April 24. You can also call 101.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
