Wetheriggs have responded positively since their County Cup final defeat last week and are within touching distance of the Westmorland League title.
If they beat local rivals Appleby at Frenchfield, Penrith tomorrow night they will be crowned champions.
They took a giant step towards the crown last night when they beat Kirkoswald 3-0 with goals from Alex Johnson (2) and Ronan Humphrey.
Wetheriggs had played some good football to take charge and the victory took them above previous leaders Windermere and Kirkoswald who were both level on points.
On Saturday they had played exceptionally well to beat the Kendal side Endmoor KGR 6-0 with goals from player-manager Andy Murray-Jones (2), Martyn Currie (2), Martyn Coleman and Greg Key.

Secretary Colin Parker said: “We have all been delighted with how we’ve responded after losing 4-0 to Carlisle City in the County Cup final.
“That was the first time we’ve been in the County Cup final for 34 years and it was our third cup final defeat of the season, so to come back strong from that has been great.
“We last won the Westmorland League title in the 2012/13 season so it would be nice to bring some silverware to the club after three losing final appearances.”
