After three years Cockfrock, Cockermouth’s ever-popular fashion shopping extravaganza, is back.
The annual two-day sale of pre-loved, good quality ladies’ fashion takes place at the town’s Kirkgate Centre on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15.
The event, organised by the Friends of Kirkgate, is a chance for local people to find a buyer for items they no longer wear.
Anyone can sell their clothes and all sellers receive 70 per cent of the sale price with the remaining 30 per cent going towards fundraising for the Kirkgate Centre.
Doors open at 7pm on Saturday and tickets are £5 each, including a glass of fizz.
The bar will be open. On Sunday, the event runs from 10am until 1pm.
Kirkgate Centre general manager Emma Heys said: “We’re delighted to play host once again to Cockfrock. It has become a big part of the town’s events calendar and many people look forward to it.
“This year’s event also represents an opportunity to emphasise the environmental message. Fashion production makes up 10 per cent of humanity’s carbon emissions, dries up water sources, and pollutes rivers and streams. Furthermore, a shocking 85 per cent of all textiles go to the dump each year.
“Reselling pre-loved clothes, therefore, makes such a lot of sense, both in environmental and financial terms, particularly in the current economic climate.
“It’s also great fun! Get together with the girls on Saturday night and sip prosecco while browsing for bargains, or pop down on the Sunday morning to catch those hidden gems you missed before. We’ll also be selling pre-loved books and DVDs upstairs on the Sunday, at crazy prices!”
Registration is now open. If you would like to register as a seller for the event, do so here: https://buff.ly/3F8nA71
