Workington Reds are getting all the bad news out to start with as manager Danny Grainger has to rebuild his squad for the 2022/23 season.
Defender Kyle Harrison is the latest to move on, the fifth member of last season’s squad to leave the club for pastures new.
Signed by previous manager Chris Willcock during Reds serious injury crisis he has been a regular, operating at centre-back but mainly as right back.
He has made it clear that it was the travelling involved as an offer closer to home was too hard to turn down.
Assistant manager Steven Rudd said: “Kyle was an excellent addition to the squad and a great character in the changing room. He got on very well with everyone around the club and was a pleasure to work with.
“His positivity, enthusiasm and commitment were excellent and we wish Kyle all the very best as he moves on and looks to play his football closer to home. He will always be made welcome back at Borough Park.”
Supporters will be disappointed that Harrison has joined the list of departures as he was one of the leading contenders for Fans’ Player of the Season behind Sam Smith and Matty Clarke – all significantly defenders.
Grainger is already in talks with players as he tries to fill the gaps left by the departing Brad Carroll, Brad Hubbold, Nico Evengelinos, Kyle Harrison and Scott Fenwick.
