Freida Scott Trust grants help Bendrigg Trust, Old Hutton, a outdoor disability specialist challenging perceptions of disability through adventurous activities
Bendrigg Trust is one organisation to benefit from grants from Frieda Scott Trust

A charitable trust is looking for new trustees to help it continue its good work in the community.

The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust is looking for two trustees, who can ensure grants of over £300,000 are distributed to the best effect across the South Lakes and the old county of Westmorland.

For almost 50 years the trust has provided financial help to charitable organisations. Since 2017 funding has been focused on positive mental wellbeing, reducing rural isolation and inclusion for those with disabilities.

In the last 20 years over 75 village halls across South Lakes and Westmorland have benefitted from improvement grants.

The trust, which is named after Frieda Scott – the wife of local businessman and philanthropist Francis C Scott – hopes to find two new trustees to join the team of eight.

Director Helen Carter said: “It is a difficult time for the sector, bringing into sharp focus the need to work effectively and ensure everything we do as a grant funder matters. And this is where our trustees come in.

“They play a significant part in helping to support some of the many charitable organisations which underpin and enhance community life in our area.

“We are particularly keen that our new trustees really know their local community and what the needs and challenges are.

“They’ll be made most welcome and they’ll be joining our highly engaged board who want to continue to ensure the funds make a difference.”

Anyone interested in finding out more can download a trustee recruitment pack from the trustee and staff section of the ‘about us’ page of the Frieda Scott Charitable Trust website at www.friedascott.org.uk

Queries can also be emailed to Helen at helen@fcsct.org.uk

The deadline for applications is 10am on Monday June 6.
