A retrospective change-of-use application for a sandwich bar and deli in a South Lakeland village has been submitted to the district council.
Mile End in Moor Lane, Flookburgh, has been trading since December. The site was formerly a hairdressing salon.
A statement from Kevin Hodge, co-owner of Mile End, said: “When we first opened the shop, we were under the impression we would still be able to trade under the current shop guidelines, and understand that isn’t the case, and will work with the Cumbria planning authority to correct this error on both of our parts as, when we first called the council, we were told we could trade under the current class the shop fell into.”
Mr Hodge said the site was open five days a week – between Thursday and Monday – and offered a free delivery service to elderly residents. Its average footfall was around 10 to 30 customers a day.
