Dylan Thomas’ classic Under Milk Wood will be performed by Penrith Players next month.
A poetically comical depiction of life in a Welsh town where the residents juggle old secrets and new realities, it will be at Penrith Playhouse from June 8 to June 11
Lyrically written, it’s both riotously funny and deeply moving.
We invite you to listen in on the dreams, desires and innermost thoughts of the inhabitants of the fictional small Welsh fishing village, Llareggub as they sleep.
They include Mrs Ogmore-Pritchard, relentlessly nagging her two dead husbands; Captain Cat, reliving his seafaring times; Organ Morgan, obsessed with his music; and Polly Garter, pining for her dead lover.
Later, as the town awakens and goes about their daily business, we are now aware of how their feelings affect whatever they do.
Penrith Players breathe new life into this entertaining classic, every night from 7.30pm.
