Alan Little with Huntsman’s Rally, winner of the pups at Sandale Heights.

Sandale Heights staged a first meeting of the season last night and the four trails produced some extremely tight finishes.

The winner of the senior trail was Kirkhead Rebel owned by Roy Laidler with Huntsman’s Que, currently second in the senior Championship, coming home in second place.

Kirkhead Rebel led on to the finish and managed to hold on Huntsman’s Que made inroads but was unable to get there in the end.

Huntsman’s Rally, owned by Denise Bland along with Jim and Alan Little, won the pups with Saturday’s winner at Kirkland, Foxparke Beep Beep again running well to take second place.

Huntsman’s Quirk, also owned by Denise Bland, hung on in another tight finish to win from Foxparke Mo Farren in the open maidens.

Forlorn Spring has form round Sandale Heights after winning the senior hounds last year at the Dog Produce and came home well for Stuart Jeynes, beating Malcolm Holmes’ Sir Robert on the finish.

Meetings are still sparse and the next trail will be run again at Sandale Heights again on Saturday.

One good effect of fewer meetings is that trails are well contested with 124 dogs entered for the four trails at Sandale Heights.
