Cumbrians named among best players at Tynedale

Will Miller and Henry Wainwright

James Telford will join fellow Cumbrians when he links up with Tynedale for next season – and should be inspired by their recent performances.

Will Miller and Henry Wainwright have just been named by their team-mates as the best back and forward during the National Two North season.

Miller, who played for Silloth and then Wigton, has been a strong-running centre while Wainwright, a mobile back-row forward moved from Carlisle.

No doubt there have been conversations between them, especially Wainwright and Telford as they played together at Warwick Road for Carlisle.

The awards – Back of the Season and Forward of the Season are chosen by the Tynedale players, so the two Cumbrians are clearly held in high regard by their team-mates.

Tynedale’s League (National 2 North) continues in the fourth tier of the new league structure below the Premiership, the Championship and National 1.

There will now be three leagues of 14 teams in tier four as opposed to two leagues of 16 teams as previously.

The three leagues will be called National 2 North, National 2 East and National 2 West.

Scrum-half Telford, who has played for Cumbria in the County Championship this season is looking to advance his career with Tynedale.
