A delayed BARLA County Shield tie was finally settled last night with a 22-18 win for Seaton A over Cockermouth A.

It was a good recovery by Seaton in a tie which was always closely contested and which had Cockermouth ahead at half-time.

The clash between the two Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL Division One sides saw Cockermouth hold a 12-8 lead at half-time. Seaton responded by winning the second-half 14-6 to take the tie.

Seaton outscored their visitors by five tries to three although they could only manage to convert one, with Nicky Burgess supplying the extras.

The tries were scored by James Robinson (2), Liam Wilson, Mark Walker and Jay Roach.

Man of the match Rob Scott scored all of Cockermouth’s points with three tries and three goals. Aidan Fryer was Seaton’s man of the match.

There are no games scheduled this weekend because of the Challenge Cup final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However the quarter finals of the Cumberland Cup will be staged next Wednesday June 1 and lining up will be: Glasson v Distington; Aspatria v Ellenborough; Lowca v Wath Brow  A; Seaton A v Kells A.
