Ty Proctor ruled out of speedway championship battle

Former Workington Comets skipper Ty Proctor has been ruled out of this weekend’s Championship clashes between Berwick and Leicester.

Now a Bandit, Proctor aggravated nerve damage in his shoulder when he crashed awkwardly against Glasgow last Saturday, in only his second meeting back following a four-week lay-off.

Former Bandits favourite Lee Complin has been booked to guest in both matches against the Lions.

Australian Proctor, 35, who has also ridden for Leicester, suffered an injury as a Comet when they were pushing for an end-of-season treble in their final season of 2018.

Berwick team manager Gary Flint said: “Ty has metalwork in his neck from an old injury, and when he crashed at Newcastle on May 1 he suffered numbness and pin and needles in his arm which were diagnosed as being connected with the old injury.

“He came back against Redcar last Friday and seemed fine, but took a heavy spill in his first race the following night and, despite completing two more rides, was suffering pin and needles in his arm again.

“We spoke over the weekend and felt it was best for him to sit out this weekend’s fixtures, and Lee is an ideal fit both average-wise and his racing mentality.”
