Workington Town have had a major boost ahead of their crucial Betfred Championship clash at home to London Broncos on Thursday.
Town’s loanees from Hull KR – centre Will Tate and forward Tom Wilkinson – are being allowed to stay with the Derwent Park club for another fortnight.
Tate has been particularly impressive since he arrived while Wilkinson, a more recent addition to the squad, has also added something extra in a shorter stay with the Cumbrians.
Coach Chris Thorman welcomed the additional loan period, particularly as Town are facing up to two important games in the space of three days to test the depth of the squad.
The big one is Thursday’s clash at Derwent Park (ko 12.30pm) which is being shown on Premier Sport.
Town are trying to get as many people through the Derwent Park turnstiles as possible to provide the vocal backing which could make all the difference in a game like this.

The Cumbrians haven’t a point from 12 games while Broncos have three and are the other side currently in the relegation zone. Their meeting will take everyone to the halfway stage of the season.
Realistically it already looks as though the two relegated clubs will come from Town, London, Dewsbury and Whitehaven, emphasising just how vital it is for Town to win on Thursday. As Dewsbury host Whitehaven on Sunday the battle to avoid the drop will intensify over the Jubilee celebrations.
Town travel to Batley on Sunday; Whitehaven host the Bulldogs on Thursday.
