Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire is celebrating the Queen’s platinum jubilee by unveiling a special bus design in her honour.
The buses feature white, platinum and royal purple livery and carry the platinum jubilee emblem.
They were launched to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne on February 6, 1952.
Passengers using the 685 Carlisle to Brampton service on Monday morning were also treated to a jubilee-themed quiz with tins of jubilee biscuits given out to winners and Jubilee-inspired music throughout their journey.
Laura Ridley, marketing manager for Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire, said: “The whole nation and our Commonwealth countries are gearing up for a big celebration this week and we felt that it was important for us as a company to honour this historic milestone within the communities we serve.
“We are therefore proud to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee with our special buses that will be used throughout the year on our local bus networks.
“This is such an historic moment, as it is the first time that any British monarch has attained 70 years on the throne.
“We hope that our customers and residents across Cumbria will enjoy travelling on, and seeing, the jubilee buses on the streets throughout the year.”
