The Cumberland County League could welcome two or three new teams next season.
Both Whitehaven Miners and Maryport Athletic are considering entering second teams in the competition.
Workington and District Sunday League champions Northside, who completed the quadruple in the season just ended are also thinking about joining the County League.
The only problem they have is that to be accepted they have to play from a facility with changing rooms.
But on the flipside Northbank have already withdrawn from the League while Wigton Harriers have yet to confirm whether they are to continue.
At the moment the League has 17 clubs split over two divisions.
All will be resolved on Tuesday, June 28 when the League’s AGM is to be held at the Cumberland FA offices in Cockermouth (start time 7pm).
New teams are welcome and interested clubs should contact the secretary Geoff Turrell on geoff.countyleague@gmail.com
The Workington and District Sunday League have also lost a team with confirmation that JJ’s FC are not going to enter next season.
However, League secretary Ron Caffrey has confirmed that League membership should remain at 12 as he has had an application from an interested new club.
“We hope that there might be more ready to join us and increase the size of the League.
“I am still looking for someone to take over from me as secretary. I won’t be standing for that position again although I am prepared to stay as treasurer and a member of the committee if needed,” said Caffrey.
The annual meeting is to be held in the Tony Hopper Bar, Borough Park, home of the Workington Reds, on Monday July 4 and will start at 7pm with the roll call.
The doors will be open from 6.30pm and the follow up meeting will be held on Monday July 25, same place and time.
