A Brampton man must sign the sex offenders’ register after he admitted making illegal images of children.
Bruce Beveridge, 64, of Dacre Road, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Beveridge admitted making indecent photographs of children between December 6 2014 and March 25 2020. These are said to be five images classed in category A — the most serious — and follow the seizure of electronic devices by police who attended his home on July 9 2020.
A prosecutor spoke of delays nationally in obtaining digital evidence by staff on high tech crime units, meaning it was taking longer for cases to come to court.
A video seven minutes and 31 seconds in length had been found in Beveridge’s possession with the illegal images said to be in the highest criminal category.
Magistrates committed the case to Carlisle Crown Court, where Beveridge is due to be sentenced on July 11. A probation service pre-sentence report was ordered and the defendant was granted bail in the meantime.
He was also told he must visit a Carlisle police station within three days of today’s hearing to sign the sex offenders’ register as part of notification requirements which have been triggered by his guilty plea.
