A 20-year-old man has been arrested as part of an ongoing rape investigation in Carlisle.
The man was arrested in the city shortly before 6pm yesterday, June 29, on suspicion of rape.
He has been released under investigation overnight as officers continue with their enquiries.
The rape was reported in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police were contacted at around 3.50am by a third party reporting a woman in her 20s in distress at Walkabout.
The woman subsequently told police that she was raped after leaving the bar with a man at around 3am.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Collier Lane.
The woman is receiving support from specialist officers and partners.
