Cumbria have to contend with a number of unavailabilities for their opening game in the NCCA Championship.
So far all their games have been one-day affairs but when they visit Tynemouth to take on Northumberland on Sunday it is the first of three days.
Gary Pratt, who has scored centuries in his last two one day games for the county, is playing for his club Richmondshire in a Cup competition.
Four other players – Nathan Waterston, Finlay Richardson, Paul Hindmarch and James McGown – all have work commitments.
In addition JJ Fielding, selected for two one-day games to follow his father Jonathan into the Cumbria team, is playing for Lancashire 2nds.
As a consequence Alex Grainger (Cockermouth), Ben Davidson (Carlisle), Jacques Du Toit (Newcastle), Drew Postlethwaite (Haverigg), Sam Medhurst (Netherfield) and Josh Stirling (Carlisle) are brought into the 12 named for the game.
Medhurst has been named in limited overs line-ups for Cumbria without being able to make his debut.
The 20-year-old seam bowler has come through the age group ranks with Cumbria.
All rounder Du Toit first played for Cumberland in 2018 and he has a century to his name. He made 101 not out against Cambridgeshire in 2019 at Netherfield.
South Africa-born, he is 42 now and spent five seasons at Leicestershire, being awarded Supporters Player of the Year in 2010.
He had played for Northumberland for five seasons before joining Cumberland so will know the Tynemouth ground as well as some of the opposition.
Grainger made his Championship debut in 2019 while Davidson has been around the squad for a similar amount of time.
Postlethwaite has kept wicket in one day matches this season while young Stirling is being tracked by Lancashire.
The named 12 are: Michael Slack (capt), Alex Grainger, Ben Davidson, Matthew Sempill, Sam Dutton, Jacques Du Toit, Nico Watt, Brodie Glendinning, Drew Postlethwaite, Sam Medhurst, Matthew Siddall, Josh Stirling.
Cumbria should have played Northumberland at Keswick on Sunday in the final NCCA Trophy group game but it was washed out.
