New Barrow boss Pete Wild has been extolling the qualities of the club’s new training base at De La Salle.

Wild has been overseeing the players’ return to training and has announced himself well satisfied with the new surroundings.

He wrote in his latest blog for the fans: “I have to say that the staff have done a fantastic job of preparing the training ground and it already feels like home. It’s a place that I really feel will be a cornerstone of our success this season.

“The lads have come back in excellent shape and are really starting to get to grips with the surroundings of our new training ground.”

Wild has been busy recruiting fresh faces for the squad and says: “It’s been great to see the integration of the new players with the existing squad.

“Everyone’s getting on really well and I’m a firm believer in that the quicker the squad unites, the better the dressing room will be. I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen from the new lads and the existing group.

“We are all excited about the Holker Old Boys friendly on Saturday. It’s our first chance to make an impression to Barrow fans and show off some of the work we’ve done this week.”

Three new arrivals have joined the group this week and Wild has been giving fans his lowdown on the trio.

“Richie Bennett brings power, pace and lots of energy to the front line. He’s looked great in training over the last few days, and I’m really excited about what he brings to the team.

“He’s a player I know well and know he’ll be a good influence on and off the pitch.

“Sam McClelland is a very exciting loan signing. He comes highly recommended form the Northern Ireland senior staff who I know really well. His attitude towards wanting to play men’s football was a massive reason in bringing him to the club, as we want players that have a desire to succeed and achieve.

“George Ray has an excellent reputation at this level and comes with well needed experience to add to our back line.

“His dominance in both boxes is one of his most attractive features and he’s another player who has experience of winning at this level of football.”

Wild will be in Barrow on Friday night for the fans’ question and answer session and has already invited supporters who can’t make it to see him at the match on Saturday and ask their question.
