The HTA meeting at Low Place on Saturday heralds the busiest week of the season coming up.

For the first time – just like the old days – there are meetings scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The big question, though, is will entries hold up as the five trails at Low Place attracted just 47 runners.

Trails so far have been spaced out and entries have been excellent so with the added complication of very hot weather forecast it will be interesting to see numbers at Latrigg (Monday and Wednesday) and Redmain (Tuesday).

As far as Low Place was concerned it was a good day for the Patterdale kennel of Denise Bland.

She had a one, two, three in the pups with table leader Huntsman’s Rebel leading them home; won the veterans with Hunstman’s Major and picked up two tickets in both the seniors and the open restricted.

Huntsman’s Rebel was collecting win number 14 in the puppy and nearest rival Ned’s Gain (9) could only manage sixth place.

In the veterans Huntsman’s Major came home ahead of Billy Birkett’s General James who has been running well recently.

The senior trail was won by Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess, who was continuing her winning run initiated last week at the Bitch Produce meeting. Local dog Miterdale Dusk came in second.

The senior maiden trail went to Lily, owned by Geoff and Barbara Jones from Ulverston. She beat Roy Laidler’s Cuckoo who appears to be recovered from a recent shoulder injury.

Stuart Jeynes’ Forlorn Spring, the current open restricted points leader, added to the tally by winning the grade from another of the Bland runners, Huntsman’s Nimrod.
