A family fun day will be held in South Cumbria in memory of a baby who died when he was just a few weeks old.
Rebecca Round and Russ Dodd have already raised more than £6,000 in their son’s Noah’s memory and are holding the fun day, at Vickerstown Cricket Club on Walney Island next month to mark his birthday.
The event, on August 14, will feature live music from local performers, children’s entertainment, inflatables, face-painting and much more. There will also be stalls from local businesses.
Rebecca said: “The date of this event is very special to us, and we hope it’s the biggest of them all.”
Noah was born eight weeks early in August 2021, and did when he was just a few weeks old after developing a respiratory condition.
The family, including Noah’s four-year-old brother Caleb, began fundraising in his memory, with a number of events and activities.
They recently donated nearly £5,000 to Bay Hospitals Charity for a BiliCocoon phototherapy system, which uses light to treat neonatal jaundice without compromising the relationship between mother and baby. The equipment will be used in the Special Care Baby Unit at Furness General Hospital in Barrow.
Money raised by the family has been donated to the SCBU through Bay Hospitals Charity, which funds the latest equipment for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust to help make patients more comfortable and ensure they get the best possible care and treatment.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust executive chief nurse Bridget Lees said: “It’s lovely to see this event bringing the community together in memory of Noah.
“I hope the fun day is a huge success, and I would like to thank Rebecca, Russ and Caleb for everything they are doing for Bay Hospitals Charity.”
The family fun day starts at 1pm on Sunday August 14. Tickets are £8, £4 for under-18s, and entry is free for under-ones. To book tickets, call Rebecca on 07456 619996.
