Trailing resumed at Redmain last night after the disappointment of a postponement on Monday.

The scheduled meeting at Latrigg had to be called off when the trailer pulled out with a back injury.

The attention switched to Redmain where 68 hounds contested the four trails, although 30 of them were in the non-championshjip all-in race.

Although there were just 14 runners in the opening senior trail it produced a tight finish with only a length and a half between the first three hounds.
Caroline Graham’s Hunter’s Flame just got up to win by a short head from Sophie Steele’s Miterdale Dusk, who was followed by an even shorter head to Ian Bell’s Howgill Lil from Kendal.

There was an exciting finish to the puppy trail after the Napier family’s Foxparke Beep Beep showed with a big lead before running off.

After crossing back over to the trail Beep Beep then had to get sorted out and head for the line, getting home by just a length from the fast finishing Eagle Girl.

The two fancied hounds Ned’s Gain and Silver Streak were a long way back in the field of 12 and missed out on the tickets.

The open non winners also had a dozen runners and it was Martin and Molly Burrows Thorn Thunder that romped home in front of Foxparke Whoosh with Cathy Lister’s Dream Catcher in third.

The All In race proved the most popular on the night with 30 entries, which is probably a reflection on there being limited running over the last few weeks.

Sophie Steele’s Miterdale Shadow, a previous senior and puppy champion now contesting veterans trails, showed his wellbeing by beating Ian Fleet’s High Crag and Lee Wall’s Denton Shamrock.
