An investigation has been launched after a police patrol car smashed through a Workington home’s garden wall and ended up on its roof.
It happened on the corner of Mossbay Road near the Army Reserve Centre – formerly known as the TA Centre – at around 9.30pm on Saturday, July 9.
A police spokesman said: “The police car, which was travelling to an emergency incident, was in collision with a Toyota Yaris car before the police car collided with a garden wall, ending up on its roof.”
It was previously reported by police that the other car was a Suzuki, but that was corrected.
The spokesman added: “The two officers travelling in the patrol car suffered minor injuries. Nobody else was injured.”
Both officers were breathalysed and tested for drugs immediately after the collision, a witness said. Cumbria Constabulary has launched an internal investigation into the incident.
