Cumbria took the honours on the second day of their NCCA Championship game with Buckinghamshire at Chesham.
The game is set up nicely for the final day with the home county 152 ahead with four wickets in hand.
In-form left-arm spinner Matthew Siddall has taken four of the six wickets to fall, giving him 12 for the match so far.
But Cumbria’s second day hero was Furness batsman Sam Dutton who had revived the innings at the end of Sunday’s play.
Dutton and Netherfield wicket-keeper Finlay Richardson had put on 56 for the eighth wicket when Cumbria closed on 149-7, chasing a home total of 237.
On Monday they took their partnership to 164 and a lead of 20 when Richardson was out for 76.
Dutton shared another stand of 42 with Brodie Glendinning for a magnificent 167. He had batted for four hours 26 minutes and faced 198 deliveries.
Remarkably 128 of those runs had come in boundaries from 26 fours and four sixes.
Cumbria were eventually bowled-out in 78.3 overs for 308, a lead of 71.
Bucks lost two wickets before they had knocked-off the deficit, including first innings centurion Andy Woodland (26).
Two half centuries from Teddy Casterton (55) and Alexei Kerveze (50) put Bucks back on course.
Michael Payne (34) weighed-in with solid support and Ross Richardson (26no) was still there at the close.
But crucially just before the close Matthew Sempill had Edward Bragg caught behind by Richardson for 7 and Conner Haddow was put under intense pressure to survive the last two overs of the day.
Siddall has bowled 33 overs already and taken 4-94 with Sempill (1-18) and skipper Michael Slack (1-16) taking the other wickets.
Cumbria will be looking to polish off the last four wickets cheaply before going on to record their second Championship win of the season.
