Castleford Tigers have recalled the three players currently on loan with Whitehaven in the Betfred Championship.

A serious run of injuries has left Castleford with a depleted squad ahead of Friday’s Super League clash at home to bottom side Wakefield Trinity.

Whitehaven confirmed this afternoon that after consultation with Castleford the Super League club have recalled Cain Robb, Jason Qareqare and Kieran Hudson because of having just 17 fit players.

Whitehaven announced the loan deals last Friday but the Tigers did hold the right to recall their players.

A Whitehaven statement said: “The club will sit down with the Tigers next week to discuss the possibility of Cain, Jason and Kieran returning next week or at the earliest possible opportunity when their injury crisis eases.”

Haven have their own injury issues ahead of Sunday’s West Cumbrian derby against Whitehaven at the Summer Bash in Leeds. They also have Dion Aiye suspended for two games following an incident in the recent Featherstone game.

It was said that on Sunday against leaders Leigh, Haven had to select three subs among the four on the bench, who would not have been used if anyone else had been fit.
