The draw for the Cumbria County Cup has been made with 11 of the 21 eligible clubs entering the competition.
All were invited to take part in an open draw, without seeding, but former winners Workington and Keswick were among those who declined.
The draw was completed today by county secretary Amanda Evans and county treasurer Linda Cameron with Liam Nicholls (RFU) and Brian Mitchelhill (Senior VP) in attendance.
The three preliminary round games will be played on or before August 21 and are: Upper Eden v St Benedict’s; Cockermouth v Kendal and Silloth v Whitehaven.
Round one games are to be played on or before August 28 and will be: Cockermouth or Kendal v Silloth or Whitehaven; Carlisle v Egremont; Penrith v Wigton; Aspatria v Upper Eden or St Benedict’s.
The semi-final draw will take place following the conclusion of round one.
In fixing the early rounds in August it gives clubs the opportunity to play the ties as serious warm-up games ahead of the new League season which starts in early September.
