Kendal Town slipped to their second successive away defeat in their new surroundings of the North West Counties League.
Following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Vauxhall the Mintcakes were beaten 4-1 at Barnoldswick.
Yet it started well enough for Jimmy Marshall’s men as they went close when Tom Kilifin saw a goal-bound shot blocked by the outstretched leg of keeper Harry Smith.
On 13 minutes when Rob Wilson fizzed a free kick across the face of goal which just needed a but Grundy couldn’t quite get there.
Five minutes later they were in front when Finley Lynch, from just inside the area, let one go which flew into the roof of the net.
Unfortunately, the lead lasted only three minutes when a free kick from Andy Hill on the left was driven into the box and flicked in by Kuda Chingwara.
It was proving an open game and on 23 minutes Kendal forced a corner and from it Darren Nightingale headed into the arms of home keeper Smith.
Poor defending by Kendal cost them a goal on 33 minutes. They should have cleared the danger but the ball only fell to Brad Knox on the edge of the box and he calmly steered his shot into the bottom corner.
More sloppy defending four minutes later cost Kendal again. This time a corner was played in to Eli Hey unmarked on the edge of the area and his shot flew in off the post.
Marshall’s half-time team talk had a good effect because Kendal dominated at the start of the second period.
Kilifin had a shot blocked by Smith and Wilson following-up saw his shot deflected onto a post.
Then clever work by Steve Yawson freed Kilifin but his angled drive was turned behind for a corner by Smith.
Then it was Sean Sailor charging through who tested the keeper but he was equal to it, again turning the shot round the post.
Kendal couldn’t find a way back, however and it was the home side who came into it again.
A corner went all the way through to substitute but he shot well over the top.
Kendal did have the ball in the net from a goalmouth scramble after a corner but the flag was up for offside.
The clinching goal followed for Barnoldswick on 83 minutes when Nightingale was robbed and when the ball was played into the box Chingwara finished clinically.
