Festival goers at Kendal Calling have raised more than £13,000 for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.
Hospice staff and volunteers attended the festival at Lowther Deer Park, near Penrith, and walked the fields with baskets and wheelbarrows full of sunflower items including badges and headbands.
The sunflower is a nationally recognised symbol of hospice care – and people attending the festival bought sunflowers for their clothes, hats, tents and camper vans.
Cath Coates, fundraiser for Hospice at Home, said “Hospice at Home has been attending Kendal Calling since 2011, and this was our best fundraising year ever with over £13,000 generously given. It was an unforgettable weekend and it was wonderful to be back in the fields for the first time since 2019.
“Over the years, Kendal Calling festival goers have now donated over £74,000 in total. This means that we can continue to provide many, many hours of care and comfort to local patients, families and carers and will make a huge difference in our local community.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to Kendal Calling for their continued support and the very generous supporters who donated. I would also like to thank the charity volunteers who gave their time, walking many miles throughout the fields and talking to thousands of festival goers about the work we do in our local area.”
