Kendal Town will play a bounce game tonight at Parkside Road after Bury’s FA Cup draw on Saturday.
The Mintcakes were looking forward to a bumper crowd with a visit from a Bury side who won the NPL North Division One title last season to earn promotion.
Their 0-0 draw at Hallam means a replay tomorrow night at Bury, so it’s already a fixture to be re-arranged for Kendal – who would hope for a Saturday when the new date is announced.
But Kendal are still in buoyant mood, despite the postponement, as they look back on a fine 3-1 FA Cup win at Thornaby which set-up a trip to Bishop Auckland in the next round.
The victory also brought in valuable cash for the club as the current committee inherited a fair amount of debt when they took over last season.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “To be honest it wasn’t a dis-similar performance to the one at Barnoldswick last Tuesday when we lost 4-1.
“The difference this time was our finishing because we scored three really well-worked goals and we also defended better in the final third.
“You can see improvements game to game and that’s what we thought. Only two of Saturday’s starting line-up were with us last season.
“Bringing in a new manager and new players was always going to take time and we are seeing that, but we are already moving in the right direction.
“We have organised tonight’s game – which will be open to the fans – to give the manager a chance to look at players who haven’t had many minutes so far.”
They will resume their North West Counties League programme on Saturday at home to Wythenshawe Town.
