Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of an incident in the Beacon Edge area of Penrith.

Police received a call from a member of the public who saw a small red car enter Beacon Edge from the mini roundabout today, August 11.

Two people were travelling in the car, which then came to a stop at the cemetery junction.

A woman, believed to be in her 60s, stepped out of the car, quickly followed by a man of similar age who was seen to grab the woman and prevent her from leaving the area.

The incident occurred at around 12.25pm. A short time later, the car was seen heading back towards the mini roundabout and turning towards the A6.

Officers are investigating and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed anything which may assist or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage which could help officers in their investigation.

The man was described as white and as having grey hair, bald on top. He was wearing a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit quoting incident number 96 of 11 August 2022 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
