It was a day for the dogs at Rydal Hound Show as the bitches seemed to find it too hot to handle.
Which is unusual as it’s normally the bitches who thrive in the warmer, hotter conditions.
This time, though, dogs won all three trails when there was another double for the Steel family and their Miterdale hounds.
Miterdale Dusk is your average sized dog and seemed to relish the conditions as he came home ahead of Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess.
The Steel’s double was completed in the open restricted when Miterdale Favour beat Denise Bland’s Huntsman’s Quirk.
The puppy trail went to Rex the Rocket, a big dog which seemed to enjoy the conditions and he held-off Huntsman’s Rally for a good win.

HTA sectetary Fiona Dixon said: “There was a good crowd and they showed their apptreciation for the hounds’ efforts by clapping them home.
“The runners appeared to have enjoyed the run out and none were distressed in the conditions.
“A big thank you to Phil Graham who officiated as starter, time keeper, judge and catcher on the day.”
