Kells can provide Cumbria with their only Championship win in the National Conference as clubs reach the home straight.
With three games left to play Kells lead Division One on points differential but face a testing trip to Bradford tomorrow.
They take on West Bowling who are still very much in the play-off picture and play on an artificial surface.
This is a key game for Kells in their pursuit of the title as their last two games are against teams in the bottom four.
They host Featherstone Lions (fourth bottom) and finish off at Saddeworth Rangers (next to bottom with just two wins all season).
“It’s the old cliché about taking one game at a time and that’s what we’ve been doing. It won’t be easy tomorrow because they are fighting for a play-off place and on paper it’s the toughest game we’ve got.
“But the squad is looking good and we’ve picked up some important wins recently so we are going there in good heart,” said coach Peter Smith.
Kells and Hull Dockers share the lead on 30 points but Kells have a plus points differential of 339 compared to the Dockers’ 257.
In addition Hull Dockers’ final game of the season is away to Wigan St Patrick’s, currently third in the table four points behind the top two but with a game in hand.
Although Kells are the only Cumbrian team who can finish as champions, three other clubs are chasing play-off places. Only Millom and Hensingham in Division Three are out of contention.
Wath Brow had their best result for a while last Saturday when they beat Thatto Heath Crusaders 32-26 in a nail-biter.
Hornets are currently fifth in the Premier Division and have a really attractive home game tomorrow when they can pit themselves against the best. They host West Hull who are assured of picking up the League Leaders Trophy after last week’s 16-8 win over nearest rivals Hunslet Club Parkside.
In Division Two Barrow Island also face the League winners tomorrow. Currently second they travel to Heworth who have only lost twice, but third placed Crosfields are level on points with the south Cumbrians and have a game in hand.
Although certain to be involved in the play-offs the Barrow side are still battling to win automatic promotion.
In Division Three Seaton Rangers will be in the end of season play-offs as East Leeds and Waterhead Warriors sealed the automatic promotion places.
The Warriors won 24-16 on Thursday night at Shaw Cross Sharks one of the sides jostling with Seaton, Oldham St Anne’s and Bentley for final placings ahead of the play-offs.
Seaton had a fine win themselves at Shaw Cross last week and are on the road again tomorrow to Bentley – the club that joined the National Conference with them this season.
A win would likely hoist Seaton into third place as Oldham St Anne’s face a tough trip to leaders East Leeds.
Hensingham and Millom have respective home games with Leigh East and Drighlington.
