Barrow’s outstanding start to the season continued with another excellent home performance.
They followed up the mid-week win against Walsall with a 1-0 victory over Harrogate.
It was another top performance from Pete Wild’s side whose ability to close down the opposition and use the ball well when they get it has been a feature of their performances.
The only goal of the game came right on half-time and there was little doubt that it was a fluke.
Josh Gordon put over a cross from out on the left but it was caught by the wind and was blown over keeper Pete Jameson to dip underneath the bar.
It was a deserved, but certainly a lucky goal for the Bluebirds who had been the better side in the first-half.
Gordon and Ben Whitfield both had efforts which were saved by Jameson while Josh Kay tried his luck from distance and his effort ended in the side-netting.
There was nearly another embarrassing moment for Jameson when opposite number Pasul Farman launched a clearance and assisted by the wind it bounced once and clipped the top of the bar.
The Bluebirds’ also had the edge in the second half and the best chance was wasted when Harrison Neal shot high over the bar from 12 yards.
Harrogate had one possible chance late in the contest but Luke Armstrong headed over from a good position.
