Polish youth international Paweł Żuk has joined Barrow on a one year deal.
Żuk, 21, has been with The Bluebirds since the start of pre-season, and his performances in the summer and in training has earned him a deal with Pete Wild’s side.
A right back, who can also play midfield, he has been handed the No.19 shirt and is available for selection for tonight’s Carabao Cup Round Two home clash with Lincoln City.
Although born in Gdańsk he moved to England with his family at the age of four and he started his early football career with the youth set-up at Oldham Athletic.
He moved to Everton when he was 14 and the following season he won the award for the best footballer in the Under-15’s Academy.
Consequently he played for Poland Under-15’s and has gone on to play for the Under-17’s and Under-18’s earning 16 caps in total.
In the 2018–19 season Żuk made 32 appearances and scored two goals for Everton’s under-18’s team.
In 2019, he moved back to the city of his birth to play for Lechia Gdansk, signing a three-year contract and made his first senior appearance in February 2020 coming on as a substitute.
He made only two appearances for Lechia during his first professional season, with the club deciding he was surplus to requirements at that time and would be allowed to leave during the summer.
Zuk then signed a two-year contract with Wisla Plock for a nominal fee but after starting the first three games of the season, he was dropped to the bench, before being dropped from the matchday squad altogether.
After only five months and four games he left the club by mutual consent in December 2020.
By January this year Żuk had returned to England and had started to train with NPL Premier side Ashton Utd although he never actually played for them.
He spent the last few months of last season back in Poland with Ruch Chorzow and played 16 times before being released at the end of the season.
Back in England he has been training with Barrow and has done enough to earn a contract.
