Michael Slack is back to lead Carlisle into the home straight in the race for the Cumbria League’s Premier Division title.
Slack has recovered from a broken toe and after a month out of action is itching to get back among it this weekend.
He also has the NCCA Trophy final to look forward to on Sunday when he will lead Cumbria against the holders and last season’s conquerors Berkshire.
On Saturday Carlisle visit Workington, with the West Cumbrians buoyant after they retained the Higson Cup on Sunday with a comfortable win over Wigton.
Slack comes into the side which had been selected for last week’s rained-off game with Haverigg. Henry Walker also comes back in for young off spinner Josh Stirling.
Workington triumphed in the cup 24 hours after they were the only team to lose in the League, hustled out cheaply by Furness before they completed an eight wicket win.
Carlisle’s rivals for the title are Cockermouth and Keswick and it is building into a big finish. The last game of the season is a possible title definer between Keswick and Carlisle.
Keswick travel to Wigton tomorrow while Cockermouth are at home to Cleator.
Carlisle finish the season with: Workington (A), Millom (H), Egremont (A) and Keswick (A).
Cockermouth have: Cleator (H), Furness (A), Workington (H), Wigton (H).
Keswick conclude with: Wigton (A), Whitehaven (H), Haverigg (A) and Carlisle (H).
Big game at the bottom is at the Playground where Whitehaven entertain Dalton when victory for the home side would enable them to leapfrog their rivals off the basement position.
Egremont have done really well of late to climb off the bottom and give themselves some breathing space but they do have the toughest run-in, starting tomorrow at home to champions Furness.
Haverigg have had a poor run of late and they are 15 points clear of immediate danger but they will be looking to earn a much needed win when they host local rivals Millom.
