A Carlisle man who robbed his victim of their bike and money at a cash machine has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.
Michael Dean-Norman, 20, of Yewdale Road, was jailed for 18 months for robbery and a further 12 months following the revoking of his suspended sentence at Carlisle Crown Court.
On the evening of August 3, Dean-Norman approached the victim at a cash point on Hutton Way, Carlisle.
He shouted at the victim and asked how much money he had taken out before demanding the money and making threats on what he would do if he did not give him the money and said he would take the victim’s bike instead.
Whilst on the victim’s bike, Dean-Norman made further requests for the money which the victim ignored and walked away.
Detective Constable Gabrielle Nicholson said “Dean-Norman made serious threats to the victim that he would cause him harm if he did not hand over the money.
“These offences can be terrifying for the victim and can have a lasting effect. We take robbery offences extremely seriously and such threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.”
Dean-Norman was arrested shortly after the incident by officers and the victim’s bike was returned.
