Workington Reds boss Danny Grainger is looking for a performance from his side tomorrow in their FA Cup-tie at South Shields.
Reds go into the tie on the back of two successive defeats, the second one described by Grainger “as not good enough.”
He said: “I’m wanting to be in the hat for the next round but the first thing is for a performance.
“We’ve had a good week preparing and talked about various things – our strengths and weaknesses so far, and also the opposition.
“In some ways it is a free hit against a full-time team from the League above and who have ambitions to move higher. The pressure is on them.
“I am looking for a big improvement on Monday’s display and I expect there will be.”
Reds will still be without the injured trio of Greg McCarragher, Bobby Carroll and Ben Hughes while goalkeeper Danny Eccles starts a three-match suspension.
Grainger also has a couple of players who are struggling to get time off work for the game.
Reds’ opponents on Monday, Clitheroe, have picked-up an undisclosed fee for left-back Bailey Sloane, one of their stand-out performers in the 1-0 win at Borough Park.
Sloane, 19, was a transfer deadline signing by Accrington Stanley after he had previously played games on trial with the League One side.
He had started with AFC Fylde and then Bury AFC before signing for Clitheroe in the summer.
Reds boss Grainger said: “I’m pleased for the lad and the League because it shows that players at our level are being monitored and that they can make their way into the EFL.”
