
Two men have been arrested after an assault in Aspatria which was filmed and shared on social media.
Police were called at around 3.40pm on August 29 with a report of the attack on King Street.
An 18-year-old man from Maryport was arrested on suspicion of affray. A 39-year-old man, from Aspatria, was arrested on suspicion of assault and on suspicion of affray.
Both men have been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Inspector Nathan Greenhow said: “We are aware of a video in circulation on social media of a fight involving a number of men in Aspatria.
“We are doing all we can to identify those involved and establish the full circumstance of this incident.
“Violent behaviour such as this will not be tolerated. Not only can violent behaviour have serious consequences for those involved, it also has a detrimental impact on the wider community.
“If you witnessed this incident, I would encourage you to please get in such so we can ensure those involved are held responsible for their actions.”
