A Kendal man has admitted burgling the town museum as he committed three similar crimes in just less than a month.
Mason Aplin, 27, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today and faced three charges.
Aplin admitted burgling Scratch Creative at Kentgate Place, Beezon Road, Kendal, on May 27 this year having entered as a trespasser, and that he stole two Apple iMac computers and associated items.
He also pleaded guilty to the burglary of Kendal Museum, Station Road, having entered as a trespasser with intent to steal therein.
That crime took place on June 26. So, too, did Aplin’s attempted burglary of an apartment at Highgate in Kendal which he carried out with intent to steal from the address. He also admitted that offence during today’s hearing.
Aplin — who appeared remotely over a video link from custody — was not represented in court by a lawyer. But Judge Nicholas Barker observed that a member of the defendant’s legal team had informed the court in writing that there had been a further conference. As a result of that, Aplin wished to plead guilty to the three crimes.
