Kendal Town staged a remarkable comeback to record their first home win in the North West Counties League.
After conceding a penalty in the 35th minute they had defender George Philipson sent-off as a result.
The spot kick was fired home by Dylan Fitzgerald and it was a lead they deserved at the time and held until half-time.
They had the ball in net on two occasions but both were ruled-out for offside, and Jacob Ngoy had a shot cleared off the line.
But in the second-half the ten men of Kendal produced a stunning performance and were the better side which ended in a richly deserved first home win.
Suddenly Prestwich keeper Russ Saunders was the man of the match for his side and during the half produced four outstanding saves.
But he could do nothing about Kendal’s equaliser on 50 minutes when Shaun Sailor produced a crisp finish to beat him.
Kendal also hit the bar and just when it seemed they were going to have to settle for a draw the lively Steve Yawson got through and his deflected shot proved to be the winner.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Prestwich were comfortably the better side in the first half but although it was a penalty I thought our player should not have been sent-off. He made a genuine attempt to win the ball and came out of the tackle with it.
“We will be appealing against the red card ands the referee has promised to have a look at the video recording.
“I think the injustice of it all galvanised us and we were the better side after the penalty. It could have been more than 2-1 in the end.
“It’s our first home win since November last year so we were celebrating afterwards and I’m looking for us to kick on from there.”
