A strong second-half performance enabled Keswick to start the new Regional Two North season with a home win.
They had led 10-0 against Consett but by the break the north east visitors had fought themselves level.
However Keswick produced an excellent response and went on to win 22-10 with the victory sealed by the final try from debutant Mark Trowe who picked-up the man of the match award.
The home side made a strong start with good pressure resulting in a successful penalty from Billy Thompson after only five minutes.
Consett, who had started slowly, began to pick up the pace of the game and dominated possession for a while.
Keswick had to live off scraps but whenever they did get turnover ball there were some good runs from George Holme, Chris Potter and Ryan Weir but they were let down by poor passing.

When Keswick conceded a penalty for a high tackle Consett kicked for the corner but Trowe won a brilliant line-out turn-over. Then a superb run from inside the 22 by Potter saw Keswick break out with Weir eventually finishing the length of the field move to score. Thompson converted.
Once again though Consett came back into the game and reduced the arrears with a penalty.
Then just before half-time there was a period of constant pressure and possession in the Keswick half which eventually led to a converted try to level the score at the break.

In the second half the game could have gone either way with Consett putting in some strong attacks and Keswick showing stout defence and also being able to move the ball well on the break.
After an hour a great team counter attack from Keswick eventually led to a try by busy scrum-half Jack Thompson, converted by brother Billy for a seven point lead.
The final quarter was highly entertaining for a good and vocal crowd.
Victory was sealed with an unconverted try by lock forward Trowe who was outstanding in all aspects of his play. He has joined the club from Wigton.
