Barrow town centre has been hit by more vandalism.
Pictures show damage to windows at the fronts of New Look and the former Bargain Book Time stores in Portland Walk.
Windows at the former Thorntons café in Dalton Road have also been boarded up.
“It’s very disappointing because you hope that people will love your town and not do these sort of things,” said Cllr Trevor Biggins, who represents the Central ward.
“You want some pride in your town and you hope that people love Barrow and want to live here. Mindless vandalism doesn’t do any good, does it.”
Cllr Biggins felt the vandalism was the result of ‘young people gathering and things getting out of hand’.
“Somebody needs to be there, like the police, some sort of presence needs to be there to stop them getting in too big a group,” he said. “I think local police and the town hall are trying to get together to stop this type of behaviour.
“Obviously, if parents are aware, they should be doing something as well. They should know where their children are and what they are up to.”
Among the other sites to have been targeted by vandals this year are the former WH Smiths and Debenhams stores in Portland Walk.
Pictures published in May showed smashed glass at the front of the buildings.
Colin Garnett, manager of Barrow Business Improvement District, said at the time: “I think it’s disgusting. These people are targeting their own communities.
“We’re having to put up with mindless vandalism. It’s appalling. We need to stop youths causing havoc in the town centre.”
Days later, a number of other businesses had windows smashed over a weekend as anti-social behaviour again hit Barrow.
In a council report produced ahead of an overview and scrutiny committee meeting in July, Caroline Wagstaff, the council’s deputy director of people and place, said the council was looking at mobile CCTV cameras that had been successfully used in Carlisle for tackling anti-social behaviour in communities.
