Cleator Moor Celtic resume their programme at home to Runcorn Town boosted by the decision of a key player to stay with the North West Counties League club.
Penrith, from the Northern League, put in seven days notice on the former Workington and Kendal midfielder Kieran Maguire but he has opted to stay with Celtic.
“We have just made him captain and he’s a key player for us so it’s very good news that he wants to stay,” said manager Brian Dawson. “It seems like an eternity since our last game so we are looking forward to getting back into action against Runcorn.
“Josh Charlton is the only notable absentee barring a couple of long-term injuries. Hopefully the holiday season is now over and we can start seeing a more settled squad moving forward.
“There are no easy games in the League so we have to make sure we prepare properly and start where we left off in our previous game.
“If we do that them hopefully we can take all three points.”
The visitors are 16th in an 18-strong Division One North with a win and a draw from seven games – two points behind Celtic.
Holker Old Boys are eighth, just two points off the play-off places but face a stern test when they visit leaders Pilkington who have won all seven games so far.
In the Northern League First Division Carlisle City have made a terrific start following their promotion and currently sit fourth in the table.
They are just four points behind leaders Whitley Bay – and actually drew with them in their last game 10 days ago.
Latest test for Jim Nichols’ side is in the shape of Guisborough who visit Gillford Park, just four points behind and two games in hand.
City will be without recent signing from Cleator Moor, striker Callum Birdsall as well as ex-Carlisle United midfielder Jordan Holt as both are unavailable.
But the good news is that skipper Josh Simpson has completed his suspension and is able to resume.
Penrith currently sit bottom of the Division One table, along with Seaham Red Star, as the pair only have four points from a win and a draw out of nine games.
Manager Darren Edmondson has used a host of players as it has been impossible through one reason or another to field a settled side.
Latest on the agenda is a trip to Pickering Town, former members of the NPL who dropped down after a couple of disappointing seasons.
They have seven points from their 10 games but if Penrith can grab themselves a win they would go above them on goal difference.
In the Wearside League Windscale have a home First Division game against an Annfield Plain side who are still seeking their first win in eight games and have a goal difference of minus 30.
By contrast Windscale have only lost once in six games – three of them victories – and have several games in hand on all the eight teams above them in the table.
Whitehaven have a county derby in the West Lancashire League’s Premier Division when they travel to Vickerstown.
The west Cumbrians have made a good start to the season, winning four of their first six games and sit seventh in the table – seven points behind leaders Poulton with three games in hand.
Vickerstown are eleventh having played two more games than their visitors and are three points behind them.
