Twin Atlantic

A weekend of live music and events is set to return to Barrow.

Scottish alt-rock band Twin Atlantic will headline the event on Friday September 30 at the Forum.

Originally from Glasgow, the band gained a national reputation with the release of top 10 albums GLA and Great Divide. Performing past hits and new songs from their latest album Transparency, this is Twin Atlantic as you’ve never known them, with front man Sam McTrusty spilling his guts on everything from marriage, male friendship, medication, and his mum.

To kickstart the festival on Thursday September 30, LA14 Live! will see four audiences guided on a musical tour, with sets from Indigo Youth, Electric Fiction, Voodoo Radio, and Band in Dystopia performing in Barrow Underground Music Society, The Meeting Place, Cloud Nine & The Lounge and Barrow Labour Club.

Audiences will be led between the venues by professional musicians who will encourage audience participation to create an atmospheric musical tour.

With local musician Maz O’Connor making her hometown return, Hardwicke Circus playing Cloud 9 & The Lounge and a number of town centre activities and workshops throughout the festival, Barrow Music Weekend aims to entertain, inspire, raise aspirations and provide opportunities to learn about career and leisure pathways into the creative music industry.

Saturday evening sees a Northern Soul and Motown Takeover at The Forum.

The programme is available online at www.barrowmusic.co.uk. There, you can explore the wealth of inspiring gigs and events on offer.

From Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave to Absolute Beginners Harp Workshops, there’s something for the whole family.

Lesley Harris, event organiser from South Lakes Rock School, said: “Barrow Music Weekend promises to be an awesome celebration of Barrow’s music scene.”

Joanne Marwood, events manager at The Forum, said: “After the success of last year’s pilot event, we were thrilled to receive Arts Council funding, which has enabled us to expand the music offer this year. We believe there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
