Former Sellafield workers and people interested in the nuclear industry and its history are invited to special screenings of a documentary which capture the final days of reprocessing at the West Cumbrian site.
In June this year, 70 years of nuclear fuel reprocessing in the UK ended with the final feed of Magnox fuel at Sellafield. It meant that the business became fully focused on its mission of cleaning up the site and safely storing nuclear material there.
This landmark moment in the nuclear industry and the reasons why the decision was made to stop are captured in a new 40-minute documentary, The Last Days of Magnox: Plant. People. Pride.
The film is being shown for free at the Rosehill Theatre, near Whitehaven. People are urged to book – only two tickets are available per person – at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-last-days-of-magnox-new-dates-tickets-417841273497
The documentary will be screened on Monday October 3, Tuesday October 4 and Wednesday October 5 at the following times:
- 2pm to 3.30pm
- 4pm to 5.30pm
- 6pm to 7.30pm
