Windscale made the midweek trip across to Farringdon worthwhile returning with maximum Wearside League points after a 3-0 win.
Their previous dip in form seems to have been overcome despite travelling with a limited squad.
Both teams had to contend with heavy rain at the start in what was a feisty opening 15 minutes.
With Farringdon having the better of the early play, the Atoms were grateful to Andrew Richardson, playing his first game of the season between the posts, making some fine saves to keep the scoresheet blank.
Windscale then began to grow into the game, with Matthew Pierce and Matthew Metcalf particularly making an impact.
Pierce, with his dominance in the air. and Metcalf, playing in an unaccustomed centre forward role, put the visitors into some great positions to strike.
The Atoms took the lead courtesy of Lewis White. Outpacing the keeper to a loose ball, he unselfishly played it across the box to Metcalf who composed himself to send the ball into the unguarded net and give the visitors a deserved 1-0 half-time lead.
Windscale were in the assurgency during the second period. They were managing the game well, limiting any scoring opportunities by Farringdon to a minimum.
The Atoms increased their lead with White’s pace again a factor. He latched on to a through ball calmly lifting it over the onrushing keeper into the unguarded goal.
The two-goal cushion gave the visitors the confidence to manage the game to a conclusion. The icing on the cake came with a third goal from Joe Atkinson.
Following two blocked shots, there was a scramble for the ball which Atkinson eventually forced over the line.
It was a good result against a team who, prior to the start of the game, were five places above the Atoms in the League table and seven points ahead.
Windscale now have a fixture-free week-end in the Wearside League due to cup competitions.
Their next fixture is on Tuesday, October 4 at the Falcon Complex against Westmorland League side Eden United in the Cumberland Senior Cup, kick-off 7.30pm.
