Kendal Town suffered a 2-1 defeat at Litherland after dominating the first-half and enjoying a 1-0 lead at the break.
The hosts, more physical than the Mintcakes, were well organised and they took charge in the second-half to go on and win the game.
Kendal chairman Michael O’Neill said that an injury to another centre-back – they have suffered there all season – did not help the cause but he was not making excuses.
“We were relatively happy at half-time with the way we had played and were in front but we did create a number of chances and didn’t take them, often because we weren’t ruthless enough in front of goal.
“Also I have to say the Litherland goalkeeper was the best I’ve seen in the League so far. Overall though I think Litherland deserved to win.
“It’s another learning curve for what is a relatively young squad and a new management team who are still identifying where the gaps are that need to be filled.
“We have a Westmorland Cup game on Tuesday at home to Keswick and I know they will be up for it as the local clubs are when they get the chance to take on a semi-pro side.”
Steve Yawson had put Kendal ahead on 15 minutes but Litherland levelled two minutes
The points were settled by William Dunne’s 64th minute winner.
