Carlisle-based choir the Abbey Singers are inviting former members to rejoin the choir for a special concert to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

Next month the choir will perform Karl Jenkins’ famous choral work The Armed Man, together with pieces by the choir’s founder Andrew Seivewright and its current director Jonathan Millican.

Jonathan said: “We’re delighted to be able to mark this milestone anniversary in such a special way and we’re very keen for as many members as possible – past and present – to take part.”

The concert will take place in St Cuthbert’s Church, Carlisle on Saturday November 12 at 7.30pm. Those wishing to rejoin the choir for the occasion will be able to sing in the second half of the concert, which will feature The Armed Man.

The choir rehearses weekly on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in St James’ Church, Denton Holme, Carlisle. Former choir members who would like to take part in the concert are warmly encouraged to get in touch via abbeysingers@gmail.com
