Penrith fell short – literally – in their Northern League game at home to Guisborough in Northern League Division One.
They lost 2-0 but it was the extra height of their opponents which proved crucial.
Manager Darren Edmondson said: “They were a much bigger side than us and it was always going to be difficult at set pieces.
“We had injuries too at the back which didn’t help. We lost one with a hamstring before the game and other with a damaged ankle during it and they took advantage to score with headers from a corner and a free kick.”
Nicholas Hood had put the visitors ahead in the second minute when he headed in the first corner of the game.
The second came from a free kick into the box on 38 minutes which was headed home by Jason Blackburn.
Penrith battled well enough in the second-half, and created a couple of chances but couldn’t peg back the deficit.
“We had a few players missing and a fresh injury but we will be ready for another League match on Tuesday.
“It’s a Cumbrian derby at home to Carlisle City which is obviously a huge game for both clubs and the first one in this League for both.
“We’re looking forward to it and will rise to the challenge that this sort of game brings,” said Edmondson.
