Leading Cumbrian food champion Cranstons has given Carlisle Youth Zone a £4,250 boost.
The company announced its charity partnership with the youth organisation earlier this year.
Martin Jones, Cranstons managing director, said: “Carlisle Youth Zone is a fantastic charity offering much needed support to the young people of Carlisle. It was great to visit the building and see the facilities they have, including a fully equipped gym, music room, access to an artificial pitch and kitchen to provide hot meals.”
Lyn Marriott, CYZ’s mentor co-ordinator said: “The money will go towards our work to make a positive difference to the lives of our young people.’’
Carlisle Youth Zone is a safe place for young people aged seven to 25, offering activities that encourage young people to have fun, try new things, work effectively alone or as part or as part of a team and to achieve things they didn’t think possible.
Lyn added: “Carlisle Youth zone helps to raise young people’s aspirations, boost their confidence and self-esteem and help keep them on positive paths.”
Since opening in 2011, CYZ have helped 12,600 young people along the way to realising their full potential.
Carlisle Youth Zone is one of four charities Cranstons is supporting this year with ‘share of profits’ donations. Donations have also been made to Tynedale Hospice at Home, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland and air ambulance.
Cranstons has six traditional shops and food halls across the county.
